Nas' new album, known as "Untitled", has drawn alot of controversy over the few months. For starters, the album was first know as "Nigger", a name that didn't sit well with many people in the beginning. After months of promoting the Nigger album, and gaining some support from some of hip-hop's most prominent artists, along with others, the name was officially changed, leaving the album without a title (although we all know what the REAL name of the record is).
After all of the hype, in my opinion I must say that Nas lived up to all of it. The record is smoothe, and flows well together. As its more of a themed-type album, the songs all mesh well together, with production from the likes of DJ Toomp, Eric Hudson, Mark Batson, Mark Ronson, Polow da Don and others. While songs like "Untitled" and "Black President" may strike more of a political movement type of feel, other songs like "Make The World Go Round" are more upbeat. Lowkey songs like "Tesify" are smoothe, slow, and mellow to the ears. "Queens Get The Money" is a very solid way to open up the album. The beat is sort of 1920's New York, if you catch my drift.
Overall, I would definetly recommend this album to anyone that apreciates real hip-hop, and from someone that has never really been real hig on Nas until recently, this album is a solid release, and a canidate for album of the year in 2008
