Jay-Z is back with his 10th studio album, American Gangster. It is inspired by the motion picture bearing the same name. The album is sort of in stages, mimicking the movie, as in the beginning of the album is sort of the rise (or dream), the middle is the peak, and the end is the fall (much like Frank Lucus' depiction in the motion picture American Gangster). Tracks like Pray and American Dreaming depicts the dream or hopes of coming up in whatever you are in (in this case, the drug game), while tracks like Party Life, Sweet, and Sucess sort of glarifies the peak of success (duh). And fittingly, the track Fallin describes the fall from grace. Solid piece of work that sorts of guides the movie in the best way that it could. You dont have to buy the album to watch the movie, or vica verca, but if you are a fan of good music, then you want this album. If you are a fan of Jay-Z, you'll love this album. His best album since The Blueprint.
